The 1986 Boston Celtics are widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA teams ever. After winning the NBA title in 1984, the Celtics made it back to the NBA Finals in 1985, only to lose to their arch-rival, the LA Lakers in six games. In the off season, the Celtics acquired former NBA MVP Bill Walton to play a sixth man role, as the prime of his career was cut short due to injuries. Once the season started, it was clear, the Boston Celtics were the best team in the NBA. The chemistry was incredible, and Larry Bird played on another level. The Celtics dominated the 1985/86 season, winning 67 games and going 40-1 at home. Larry Bird took home NBA MVP honors for the third straight season. Once the playoffs started, the Celtics took care things by going 11-1 in the first three rounds and advancing to their third straight NBA Finals. In the NBA Finals, the Celtics beat Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets in six games to win the 1986 NBA Championship. Larry Bird wins NBA Finals MVP and NBA MVP for the second time in his career (1984)
