The 1972 Lakers come in at the tenth and final position in the West. The Lakers dominated the NBA in the 1971-72 season, winning 69 games in total and setting the record for wins in a row at 33. The Lakers started with a big four of Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich & Elgin Baylor, but the 37-year-old Baylor retired 9 games into the season, sparking the 33 game win streak. In the postseason, the Lakers got their revenge on Kareem’s Bucks, beating them 4 games to 2. In the NBA Finals, they beat the Knicks in 5 to win the NBA Champion that eluded Wilt & West for so long. Wilt Chamberlain took home NBA Finals MVP.
