Markieff Morris joins OKC
Markieff Morris has a new team, according to Shams. Morris has agreed to join the Oklahoma City Thunder for the remainder of the season, a move that will greatly improve the Thunder depth. Morris had plenty of choices too but ultimately decided to join a Thunder team that is 3rd in the West. Good move by Sam Presti (OKC GM) to bring him in.

Thunder sign:
F – Markieff Morris

Kanter joins Blazers
Veteran big man Enes Kanter has joined the Portland Trailblazers for the remainder of the season. Kanter announced his decision on social media, and he will bring size, rebounding, and a good locker room presence to Portland. Fun fact, back in July of 2015, the Blazers offered Kanter a 4-Year/$70M offer sheet. The offer was eventually matched by OKC.

Blazers sign:
C – Enes Kanter

Boston trades Bird to Atlanta
Boston gets this deal in at the buzzer, trading troublesome guard Jabari Bird to the Hawks, and according to Shams, the Hawks will then cut him.

Celtics
Get:
Future protected 2nd-rounder

Hawks
Get & Waive:
G – Jabari Bird
Raptors trade Monroe to Nets
Shams broke this one post-deadline. The Raptors move off of Greg Monroe, and it’s unknown right now if the Nets will keep him or drop him. Monroe could be useful for the Nets, as they are in the playoffs at the moment. His contract is not large, and he is a UFA next season, so it makes sense to keep him around.

Nets
Get:
C – Greg Monroe
Second-round pick

Raptors
Get:

Sixers send Fultz to Magic
Oh My Goodness! The Sixers finally decide to part way with Markelle Fultz, sending him and his shoulder to the Magic in exchange for Jonathan Simmons. Fultz will get a chance to restart his career in Orlando, while the Sixers continue to add solid veterans to their bench. This is a solid move for the current Philly roster, but it’s crazy to think that a former #1 pick was traded for Jonathan Simmons and future picks.

76ers
Get:
F – Jonathan Simmons
2020 first round pick (OKC)
Future second-round pick (CLE)

Magic
Get:
G – Markelle Fultz
Lakers/Clippers exchange big men
The Lakers made a trade, just not the one we all have heard about. The Lakers traded Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley to the Clippers for big man Mike Muscala. Muscala is a free agent next season and can shoot the ball from the center position, something that is coveted on LeBron teams. This also gives the Lakers an open roster spot. The Clippers get an up-and-coming big man in Zubac, who can do some things and is an RFA at season’s end.

Clippers
Get:
C – Ivica Zubac
F – Michael Beasley

Lakers
Get:
C – Mike Muscala
Raptors go all in, trade for Marc Gasol
Wow! The Raptors go all in for the 2019 title by trading for big man Marc Gasol in exchange for Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles and a future second-round pick. The Grizzlies free themselves from Gasol’s $25.5M player option for next year, and they give him a chance to win the title with the Raptors. This move does cut into their bench a little, but Jonas was making $17M next year anyway, and I would much rather have Gasol than Jonas.

Raptors
Get:
C – Marc Gasol

Grizzlies
Get:
C – Jonas Valanciunas
F – Delon Wright
F – CJ Miles
2024 second-round pick
Clippers release Gortat
The Clippers have waived veteran center Marcin Gortat. Expect him to sign on with a playoff contender soon.

Clippers Waive:
C – Marcin Gortat
Clippers trade Bradley to Grizzlies
The Clippers continue to unload guaranteed contracts for next season, this time sending out Avery Bradley to the Grizzlies for Garret Temple and JaMychal Green. Bradley’s contract is only partially guaranteed for $2M next season, so the Clippers free up $15M for next year by acquiring Green and Temple, whose contracts expire at seasons end.

Clippers
Get:
G – Garret Temple
F – JaMychal Green

Grizzlies
Get:
G – Avery Bradley
Bucks acquire Mirotic
While the full details of this trade aren’t quite ready yet, we know that Nikola Mirotic is joining the Bucks. Rumor has it this is a three-team deal, involving the Pistons, Bucks, and Pelicans. More to come soon.

Bucks
Get:
F – Nikola Mirotic

Pelicans

Pistons Get:
C – Thon Maker
Rockets send Baldwin/Stauskas to Pacers, both waived
The Rockets shredded more salary, trading their two newest players, Wade Baldwin & Nik Stauskas to the Pacers, and it’s reported the players will be waived. Tough break for both Baldwin and Stauskas, who’ve been on four teams in the last week, and are now unemployed. The NBA is a tough business.

Pacers
Get:
F/G – Wade Baldwin
G – Nik Stauskas

Rockets
Get:
Future second-round pick

Pacers
Waive:
F/G – Wade Baldwin
G – Nik Stauskas
Rockets trade Ennis to 76ers
The 76ers added a piece to their bench by acquiring forward James Ennis from the Rockets for a future second-round pick. Ennis can shoot the three and play d, and since the 76ers traded away some depth in the Tobias Harris deal, this move gives them another body.

76ers
Get:
F – James Ennis

Rockets
Get:
2021 second-round pick

Dallas trades Barnes to Sacramento
The Mavericks traded Harrison Barnes to the Kings in exchange for Justin Jackson and veteran Zach Randolph, though initial reports are that ZBo doesn’t have to report and will most likely get bought out. By trading Barnes for Jackson, the Mavericks saved about $20M, which will help them build around KP and Doncic. The Kings get Barnes, who is a fantastic scorer at times and has a $25M player option for next season. The Kings are going all in for the postseason, and if they make it, expect Barnes to re-sign.

Kings
Get:
F – Harrison Barnes

Mavericks
Get:
F – Justin Jackson
F – Zach Randolph (will be waived)
Cavs, Kings, and Rockets work 3-team deal
The Cavs, Kings, and Rockets completed a three-team, six player deal on Wednesday night. The Kings get Alec Burks, whom they have coveted for a while, as they continue to make their push towards the postseason. The Cavaliers acquire a first-round pick for this upcoming draft, but it’s Houston’s pick, so it will most likely be in the 20’s. The Cavs also get Marquese Chriss, who is talented and young and also extremely inconsistent, and Brandon Knight, who is simply salary filler. The Rockets get Iman Shumpert, who will provide much needed bench depth and veteran experience, and shooters Wade Baldwin and Nik Stauskas.

Kings
Get:
G/F – Alec Burks

Cavs
Get:
F – Marquese Chriss
G – Brandon Knight
’19 1st-round pick (top-13 protected)

Rockets Get:
G – Iman Shumpert
F/G – Wade Baldwin
G – Nik Stauskas
Pelicans acquire a Morris twin
The Washington Wizards were able to save over $2M in salary by trading Morris to the Pelicans, and the Pels get a shooter that can space the floor. Both players are unrestricted free agents this summer, so this was just a salary dump from Washington, as it seems they are prepared to T.A.N.K.

Wizards
Get:
F – Wesley Johnson

Pelicans
Get:
F – Markieff Morris
2023 second-round pick
Wizards trade Porter to Bulls for Parker, Portis
Shams broke this one, announcing the Bulls have moved Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis to the Wizards for Otto Porter Jr (a lot of “P’s” in this deal). The Bulls were able to finally move Bobby Portis, albeit 18 months after his fight with then-teammate Nikola Mirotic. The Bulls get Otto Porter, who was one deemed “untouchable” by the Wizards, but the latest injury to John Wall seems to have changed that. I like this move for both teams, though it’s tricky to tell at the moment. Porter Jr is a long wing who can do some good things, and now will have plenty of playing time. The Wiz get two solid big men, but Parker is expensive, and next year is a player-option, so it looks like we know the makeup of the 2020 Wizards … barring a Beal trade.

Wizards
Get:
F – Jabari Parker
F/C – Bobby Portis
2023 Second-round pick

Bulls
Get:
F – Otto Porter Jr.
Suns/Heat exchange shooters
According to Woj, the Miami Heat traded away a big contract in exchange for a slightly smaller contract. The Heat trade away guard Tyler Johnson to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Ryan Anderson. The Suns free themselves of Anderson and get Johnson, who could potentially opt out at the end of the year (seems likely, who wants to play in Phoenix). Shams Charania also reported that Wayne Ellington is included in the deal going to Phoenix.

Suns
Get:
G – Tyler Johnson
G – Wayne Ellington

Heat
Get:
F – Ryan Anderson
76ers/Clippers complete Harris trade
The 76ers and Clippers exchanged six players and two draft picks early Wednesday morning, and it works for both teams. The Clippers free up cap space (a la the Knicks) and get two decent draft picks from the Sixers. As for Philly, they now have a very solid starting line-up and have a potential “big-four” of Embiid, Simmons, Butler, and now Tobias Harris. Harris is a free agent at the end of the season, but the early talks are that Philly wants to keep him long term.

76ers
Get:
F – Tobias Harris
C – Boban Marjanovic
F – Mike Scott

Clippers
Get:
G – Landry Shamet
F – Wilson Chandler
F/C – Mike Muscala

Lakers/Pistons exchange shooters
The Lakers and Pistons agreed to a deal to send Reggie Bullock to LA and rookie Svi Mykhailiuk to the Detroit, along with a 2nd-round pick. Bullock shot a career-high 42% from three last year and will bring shooting and floor-spacing to LA, while the Pistons get a nice rookie that can shoot and is under a cheaper contract.

Lakers
Get:
G – Reggie Bullock

Pistons
Get:
G – Svi Mykhailiuk
Undisclosed 2nd-Round Pick

Blazers/Cavs swap role players
The Blazers acquired swingman Rodney Hood from the Cavs in exchange for guards Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin. Rodney Hood should provide some solid bench minutes for Portland and will add some playoff experience in that locker room. Stauskas going to the Cavs doesn’t mean much for the big picture, but this does give him a chance to play some minutes, albeit on a team going nowhere.

Blazers
Get:
G – Rodney Hood

Cavs
Get:
G – Nik Stauskas
C – Wade Baldwin
